Visitor Visas

You must apply for a visit visa if you want to visit a nation as a tourist, for business, or to see family and friends who live there. Depending on the purpose of your travel, you will need to apply for a tourist or business visa. Tourist visas are provided to those who wish to visit a nation for the purpose of vacationing or sightseeing. These visas are only valid for a certain amount of time and do not allow the foreign traveler to conduct business while in the country. However, the application process, eligibility restrictions, and papers necessary differ from nation to country. A business visa is typically the best option for doing customer meetings, attending conferences, visiting on-site, or conducting sales meetings.

General Requirements

  • A passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of travel.
  • A photocopy of the bio page of the passport
  • At the time of application, a copy of the two-way tickets must be supplied.
  • The most current bank statement serves as proof of financial resources.
  • Invitation letter from an overseas sponsor, friend, or family member
  • Financial statement of the sponsor/friend in the foreign nation
  • A photocopied passport of the sponsor
  • A marriage certificate is required if you are married to an international citizen.

Documents Required

  • Passport valid for travel –Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your period of stay in a country (unless exempt by country-specific agreements). Each individual who needs a visa must submit a separate application, including any family members listed in your passport.
  • Application fee payment receipt,if you are required to pay before your interview.
  • Photo –You will upload your photo while completing the online Form DS-160. If the photo upload fails, you must bring one printed photo in the format explained in the Photograph Requirements.

Attend Your Visa Interview

A consular officer will interview you to determine whether you are qualified to receive a visitor visa. You must establish that you meet the requirements under a country's law to receive a visa.

Ink-free, digital fingerprint scans are taken as part of the application process. They are usually taken during your interview, but this varies based on location. After your visa interview, the consular officer may determine that your application requires further administrative processing. The consular officer will inform you if this is required. After the visa is approved, you may need to pay a visa issuance fee (if applicable to your nationality), and make arrangements to return the passport and visa to you. Review the visa processing times to learn more.
